The Startup Success Podcast

The Startup Success Podcast

In Show #16 Bob and Pat talk with Rails developer Robert Dempsey, CEO of Atlantic Dominion Solutions. Robert explains how – and why – he’s bootstrapping his successful Rails development shop into a startup with 3 apps out and a fourth on the way, agile/scrum development methodologies, what he’s using to promote his online apps and more. Bob has a tip for doing Business Intelligence on the cheap and found a tool for startups drowning in a river of RSS feeds and Pat has a tip on how Silverlight now speaks PHP, Ruby and other dynamic languages.

The Startup Success Podcast

The Startup Success Podcast

Show #15 is all about Adobe Flex/Air for startups with James Ward, Adobe Technical Evangelist. We cover what Flex/Air offers startups, where the real Flex/Air action is really going on, what Adobe thinks of Microsoft’s Silverlight, does Adobe have a startup program, evaluating Flex/Air as a platform for your startup and your questions from our Facebook page and from the Business of Software Forum.

Since Bob and Pat talk with James for a while, we’re skipping for this week the other usual show segments.

      Show #14: David Schenberg

      The Startup Success Podcast

In our 14th show, Bob and Pat interview David Schenberg, CEO and cofounder of BusyEvent.com about how his company is disrupting the event management industry with $100 per event online event organizing, how “event management” has come to mean a lot more than big public events and how to build a successful startup off the beaten Silicon Valley path.

Bob has an avoid-the-pain tip for you, Pat talks about Microsoft’s Security Development Lifecycle, and this week’s tool for startups is using a wiki to capture all that non-code info you startup needs to function. Also, as of now, all of our past show’s mp3 files are being hosted via Amazon S3 instead of WordPress.com. This should make it much easier to download and enjoy past and future shows.
